Garden

Playa del Rey has an environmental science Garden Education program for all students. The outdoor green space integrates science and math for our STEAM program. All students visit with their teacher weekly to bring garden lessons, an awareness of where food comes, and care for chickens to real life application. 

Donations came from Whole Kids Program, Environmental media and Friends of Playa Booster Club fundraising efforts. The outdoor space has tree stumps for students to work in small groups.  The area also includes a fruit and vegetable harvest, and chickens that are cared for by the Playa del Rey staff. Another small garden area is located in the kindergarten area. Students have planted additional vegetables and flowers to extend their learning. Take a look here:
