Greetings Playa Del Rey Elementary School Community:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!  I am thrilled to welcome our new and returning families back to school!   Playa is committed to the success of all of our students. We believe that a strong and active collaboration with students, parents, guardians, and community members, we can create a safe and exciting learning environment that challenges all our students.

I want to first reflect on last year and thank you for your tremendous dedication to the students at Playa Del Rey Elementary.  I'm proud of the work that my staff and I have accomplished in our first year together. Our students benefited significantly from our efforts to stretch their learning in new and more challenging ways.

I have high hopes for what our students will learn and accomplish this year, but their success depends on our partnership. As we continue to focus on CGI, Balanced Literacy, Small Group Instruction, and STEAM this year, we will also continue to focus on intentional professional development, instructional walks, the PDSA cycle, and positive behavior support and intervention.

As parents, you are equal partners in building critical skills and deepening knowledge of our students to assist in the learning process. Please consider joining our school volunteer program, parent committees and ensure that you attend monthly meetings and training with the Principal. Your child(ren) will significantly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and it's operations.

We recognize that to be successful in school, your children need support from both the home and school.  We know that a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your child’s education.  Thank you for giving us the amazing opportunity to educate your children.

Please join me in welcoming the newest members of our Playa Del Rey Elementary Family:

MORE THAN A MEAL

The More than a Meal (MTAM) Campaign is LAUSD’s annual campaign to collect meal applications and household income forms for students. MTAM helps secure valuable funding for our District, our schools and our students.

All families are required to complete an application. Please complete the application at https://hif.lausd.net/

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

We are now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. Please gather your TB clearance documents to be ready for submission to your school in August and upload your proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the LAUSD Daily Pass – https://dailypass.lausd.net.
